Writings On The Wall

Originally, the police did not realize that the murders at the Tate residence on Cielo Drive, and the LaBianca killings on Waverly Drive, were done by the same group of people. Slowly, clues began to emerge as the authorities further began to investigate. Both murders had words written on the walls of each home in blood. “Helter Skelter” was found in the Tate house, while “Death to Pigs” was found at the LaBianca house.

Getting Caught

What began as a slow investigation from the time of the first killing on July 1, to the last murder on August 25, slowly started to take shape. Susan Atkins, who had been charged with Manson for car theft, began telling stories about the murders while in jail, and finally gave the police the evidence they needed to put all 9  murders in consecutive order. And more importantly, she gave them the evidence they needed to prosecute Manson in masterminding the entire plan.
