Golliwog

The Golliwog doll was a 19^th century ragdoll that first came about as far back as 1895 as a character in popular children’s books. Somehow, it was recreated once again in the early 2000s and sold, much to the chagrin of most consumers. The doll, which was meant to be a depiction of African Americans, even embodied the same clothing that they would be shown wearing during minstrel shows, which mocked those of African American descent. Thank goodness they were finally taken down from toy shelves once and for all.
