17. The deathly fall
Here’s an example of why you need to make sure things are in order before taking any leap, especially from an airplane several tens of thousands of feet up in the air. In 1988, an experienced skydiver named Ivan McGuire wanted to film his two-mile jump over North Carolina. Everything’s set, except that McGuire forgot to put on his parachute before jumping out of the plane. He fell right into his own death.
