Reunited With His ‘Family’

Little did the Barclay family know that the person alleging that he was the 16-year-old Nicholas, was actually a 23–year-old Frenchman named Frédéric Bourdin, and he was known by authorities as ‘The Chameleon.’ But the Barclay family didn’t know that, at least some of them didn’t know that. A few other family members, like his uncle, didn’t quite believe him, and for good reason.

Too Many Contrasting Factors

The police, who had made a sketch of what the 16-year-old Nicholas would look like, hardly looked like the boy who came home to the Barclay family from Spain. Not only had his eyes changed from blue to brown, he spoke with a strong French accent, and even his ears were a different shape.
