Being Accepted By Her Family Again

According to Rifca, after she had given birth to Maria, her father had chosen to forgive her for running away and marrying Ionel, also because Ionel’s family ended up paying the dowry requested by Rifca’s family. Once again their family was one unit, and Rifca could hope for a different future for her young children. She shares that she wanted her daughter to continue her studies, and not live the same life that she has lived so far.

Becoming A Grandmother At 23

Despite Rifca’s encouragement to continue to study and live a ‘bigger’ life than she did, her daughter Maria would follow in almost the exact same footsteps as she did. Maria would also get married at the age of 11 and have her first baby just 6 months after. She named her son, Ion, and Rifca would then become a grandmother at the youthful age of 23, reportedly becoming the youngest grandmother ever in the entire world.
