The party took place on the 1900 block of S. 10th St. in Milwaukee with other young people, some of whom were friends of Carrie Ann and had told her about the event. Tousignant believes that Carrie Ann had been suspended on purpose in an effort to make it to the party, which others had completely ditched school for.

“She would’ve snuck over there anyway,” she said, referring to the house party.

Based on testimony from a police document, Ferreira said that he and others had been drinking and that he witnessed Jopek take a puff of marijuana, which he had offered to her. It was then that her impending death began to unfold.
