Rather than try to get a ride, William decided to head towards the Escalante River to get to Page. From there, he was going to attempt to ask to hitch on someone’s boat along Lake Powell to get to where he needed to go. But the travel from Boulder, Utah to Page, Arizona, was about a 90-mile journey, and William’s plan of getting there wouldn’t go as he hoped.
