Hiking Down Instead

Rather than try to get a ride, William decided to head towards the Escalante River to get to Page. From there, he was going to attempt to ask to hitch on someone’s boat along Lake Powell to get to where he needed to go. But the travel from Boulder, Utah to Page, Arizona, was about a 90-mile journey, and William’s plan of getting there wouldn’t go as he hoped.

Not Hearing From William

While hiking alongside Escalante River, William and his dog would soon enough run out of regular drinking water, as well as food. And when he never arrived in Page to pick up the money his father had sent him, his family became quite concerned. Then as the days continued to pass with no sign of him, they knew they needed to send out a search party.
