A Free Wheel
According to Neil MacLeod, a friend of John’s from Stornaway, Scotland, whom he had met on a plane ride to London, he described him as “He [John] was a free wheel so he would go to incidents, like major incidents around the world and look to help. He had worked with FEMA when he went down to Katrina. He was working there. He’s working in some pretty rough places.”
An Explorer At Heart
John loved to visit new countries, even calling himself “an explorer at heart.” So when he visited India and managed to trek through the jungles of the Andamans a couple of times, he truly enjoying his time there. And when the opportunity arose to head back there, he didn’t skip a beat. In fact, some would say that it kind of became an obsession.
