4. Doberman Pinscher

Normally portrayed as vicious guard dogs, Dobermans are actually excellent at that job. But in reality, they are trained to keep attackers at bay rather than to actually attack. Dobermans though, are also known to have varying personalities due to overbreeding, and because of that, some can show signs of neurosis. They require constant companionship and supervision, which is something of major consideration when choosing to get a Doberman as a pet.

5. Bullmastiff

Bullmastiffs are astonishingly massive animals that are apparently, unbelievably quiet. In their early years, these dogs were bred to watch over livestock. Due to their imposing size, it was enough to scare off any kind of danger without actually attacking. Despite their huge size, these days, Bullmastiffs are known to make good family pets, even getting along with the smallest of children without fear of harming them.
