The “Grandmother Of Performance Art”
Marina Abramović, who calls herself the “Grandmother of Performance Art,” went on to do more shows after Rhythm 0. They may not have been as difficult, as painful, or as disturbing in nature, but they were always thought provoking and something to experience. Many also called her brave for the way that she would perform each and every piece that she did, definitely making her mark in the art world.
Honoring Her Work
Marina, who has been called a true artist dedicated to her work, as well as a feminist in her own right, is still being honored until this day. She shares, “There still are scars from where the people were cutting me. They were taking the thorn from the rose and sticking it in my stomach. The public can kill you. This is what I wanted to see.” And there is no doubt that she got her point painfully across.
