Garnering A Crowd
Although 6 hours doesn’t necessarily seem too long to most, those particular 6 hours of Rhythm 0 would be some of the longest minutes in the young life of Marina Abramović. What would start off as simple and seemingly normal performance would eventually turn into a grotesque and quite ugly show of human nature and the natural evil that sits in some people when allowed to do anything they wished to a submissive female body. Many of the results were quite sickening, to say the least.
Starting Off Slowly
In the beginning of the show, those who were participating didn’t really do anything too harmful. They began by handing her a rose to hold, wrapping her in string, basically playing with her as if she was a live and life-size human doll. And when she said that she was going to remain passive, it would almost seem like she was uninvolved. But then things would soon take a more sinister turn.
