MRI Findings

When the MRI results were released, the doctor’s worst fears were confirmed. Jett was born with Sacral Agenesis, a disease which meant that he was missing the lower part of his spine. And if that wasn’t hard enough to accept, he also didn’t have any calf muscles, and his feet were facing upwards, straight to his shins. He also had kidney problems, one more issue that was going to make little Jett’s life more than complicated.

The doctors told Jett’s parents that his condition happened to 1 in every 100,000 patients, and because a portion of his lower spine was missing, unfortunately Jett would never be able to walk. Amy explains, “As soon as they said he would be wheelchair bound and probably not have as good a quality of life as us due to kidney problems, I broke down. My husband had to stay strong and speak to the doctors, I just couldn’t talk.”
