Callahan shares, “I love boats and I’ve spent all my life around them. By my 20s I was designing and building them, one of which was a 6.5m (a little over 21 feet) sloop I named Napoleon Solo.” So when he was 29-years old, he decided to take the adventure of a lifetime.

A Trip Of A Lifetime

Callahan was said to have recently divorced from his wife of 6 years, and he wanted to take this trip thinking it would do him some good. According to Callahan, “I’d always wanted to go across the ocean in a simple boat. Boats are the greatest tool to access the world’s greatest wilderness. I was attracted to the whole idea of being able to access the whole world without many resources [so I] built Napoleon Solo not as a race boat, but as a dwelling. My life was going down the tubes. I basically built this boat as an escape machine.”
