Marco Siffredi’s Final Snowboard Stunt

.

In 2001, French snowboarder and mountaineer Marco Siffredi successfully climbed to the summit of Mt. Everest with the intention of snowboarding down via the Horbein Couloir. Unfortunately, the pass did not have enough snow to allow him to go as planned, forcing him to take another route via the Norton Couloir which he was able to conquer.

Not satisfied with his feat, the adventurous Marco summited Everest once again the following year to try another shot at going down the Horbein Couloir on snowboard. Upon reaching the top, observers noticed that Siffredi was exhausted and confused because of oxygen starvation but still continued with his plan. This photo was the last taken of him before he set off down the Horbein Couloir on his snowboard, never to be seen again.
