Brooke Mayo had been 19 then. She was a bright, beautiful, and ambitious young lady who had a whole future ahead of her. She had plans to leaving the US and at that time, she knew she had to help out in the war. It was November 1941. Europe was in chaos and was in the grip of war. It was only a few days before the bombing of Pearl Harbor then. While no one knew what was to come, Brooke wanted to go to London to serve with the civilian army corps.
Yes, things were happening to her. That is, until one night changed all of that.
The Night that Changed It All
Brooke was on her way to a dinner party in Hollywood Hills. It was the holiday season and everyone was celebrating Thanksgiving with a helping of turkey and baked beans. She drove herself to the gathering and planned to get home on her own as well. It was a nice night, but when she walked down the stairs, that was when a stranger attacked her from behind.
