This cashless economy has learned to cope with it, but some establishments do bend backwards for tourists and accept money.

Working Toward Perfection

Auroville is far from the perfect town that it is. Because outsiders are welcome, some rules can be broken. That’s because the place doesn’t have a set of rules in place. Rather, the policies are enforced based on the system of trust. And while some rules are broken, the committees within the township are working hard to make sure that things run as smoothly as possible.
