In Fear For Her And Her Family’s Lives For A Year

After her escape, Rosalynn was in hiding for a year, never knowing if Piette would find her since he would escape capture that entire time. Police couldn’t seem to find him, and Rosalynn was afraid that before they could get him, he would find her again. Rosalynn shares, “It’s hard to describe when you’ve been through so much trauma in your life, especially when the man who did this to you is not caught. You’re always looking over your shoulder thinking that he’s going to show up and take you again.”

Telling The Children The Truth

One of the hardest moments for Rosalynn was having to tell her children, aged 2 to 17, that the only father they knew, was also her abductor. Not only had he taken her at such a young age, but he had raped and abused her since she was 11-years old. Now the children and Rosalynn are all getting the treatment they need to deal with their post-traumatic stress and the years of torture they went through under Piette’s bondage.
