Finally Fleeing For Her Life

During her time as Piette’s prisoner, Rosalynn had taken to the streets in order to beg for money and food to help feed her 9 children and herself. She had even learned how to make homemade ice cream, which she would sell, along with honey and coffee. So finally, with the bit of funds she was able save up, in June of 2016, she finally found the guts to leave.

On The Run

At the time that she left, she only had 8 of her children with her, as her eldest had been able to escape a year before she decided to leave. They were able to get a taxi and get to Oaxaca City, Mexico, where she finally called her friend. When she arrived at Lisa’s house, for the first time in 19 years, she was able to finally tell someone who she really was. Rosalynn shares, “It was so nice to be able to tell somebody the truth. I was still scared, but it was wonderful not to have to lie anymore.”
