A Young Swiss Family Of 9
Over 75 years ago, a married couple by the names of Marcelin and Francine Dumoulin lived in Chandolin. They were parents of 7 young children, two girls, and 5 boys. The father, Marcelin, who was 40-years-old, was a shoemaker. While their mother Francine, 37-years-old, was a teacher. Their children’s ages ranged from 13 to 4. Their youngest child was a little girl named Marceline.
Going Out To Milk The Cows
On August 15, 1942, Marcelin and Francine decided to head out to the meadow near Chandolin to milk their cows. It was a beautiful, sunny day, with clear blue skies. Francine usually didn’t go with her husband up the meadow due to having to stay behind to watch over their 7 children. But for some reason that day, she decided to join him. Sadly on that Saturday, both parents never made it home to their waiting children.
