After almost 12 grueling hours of non-stop driving, the vans stopped. The kidnappers opened the doors and took Ed out first. Then, the captors took the kids out one at a time. They were each asked to climb a ladder that led them underground. Some of the younger kids got scared and thought that this was a one-way trip that they could never get out of. And soon, they all found themselves buried in a truck trailer that was hidden beneath the ground. There was food and water, but all these were rationed.
