Not Enough
Unfortunately, while Kelly did have other names on his list of suspects, there just wasn’t enough proof to link anyone to the actual heist. In fact, some people believed that the items stolen were actually destroyed. Nevertheless, he couldn’t give up. He just couldn’t accept this as the truth. So, the reward that was given in 1997 was increased. From $1 million, the leak could receive a total amount of $5 million.
Missing Evidence
Then, the FBI decided to take the DNA route. However, the evidence collected went missing. The authorities had the duct tape and the handcuffs that possibly contained evidence of the thieves. Unfortunately, no one was able to collect these items from the lab. It seemed as if these items disappeared into thin air.
