He was constantly met with opposition and he usually crushed them in a manner which would instill fear to those planning to rise against his regime in the future. For over five years since 1982, his administration claimed the lives of more than 20,000 Ndebele civilians as part of his alleged political genocide. To date, more than 3.1 million Zimbabweans suffered from his so called “land reform program” which leveled with bulldozers villages that opposed his government.

18. Idi Amin Dada

Idi Amin Dada ruled Uganda for only eight years, yet he made sure that he left his mark, albeit one that puts him in bad light. He was known for his brutality and earned the nickname “Butcher of Uganda”, claiming the lives of about half a million people through extrajudicial killings and genocide. He sent out killer squads to take down his opponent’s supporters.
