Worlds of Fun opened in 1973 in a 235 acre area in Clay County Missouri. It is Kansas City’s most popular amusement park. Its theme is based on the book of Jules Verne, “Around the World in 80 Days.” There are 5 major sections, Scandinavia (where the entrance is located), Africa, Europa, the Orient, and Americana. Despite the lack of a section for Australiana, the Australian themed “Boomerang” roller coaster is incorporated into Africa. The park includes access to the water park Oceans of Fun.
