As time went on, Kach reveals that Hose’s abuse just got worse and worse. She says that he was violent and treated her like a slave. She explains, “He would just point. I was like a dog. I did what my master told me. I went in the closet.” She was enslaved, not only by Hose but by her own fear as well.

Finally Allowed Outside

With her new identity as Nikki, Hose believing that he had her convinced not to tell anyone who she really was, he began bringing Kach out of his house. She would often go to the nearby convenience store, and although it had only been 4 years since she had gone missing, not a single person recognized her. Even after being seen by Hose’s parents, they just assumed that she was his new girlfriend and had no clue that she had been imprisoned in their home for more than 4 years.
