Courtney apparently had a criminal past and a troubled marriage. His wife decided to take their kids and leave him, no longer wanting to deal with his violent antics. Courtney, who had a previous record for rape in the past, was responsible for taking Brooke while she was working at the complex. He drove her into the woods where he kept her until morning, after which he proceeded to rape her and eventually bludgeon her to death when she tried to stop him. Gratefully for her family, Courtney was found, charged and is now serving a life sentence in jail.
