Brian David Mitchell, A Drifter Who Called Himself Immanuel

Mitchell was a Mormon who said that he heard God speaking to him, telling him that he was no longer to be called Brian David Mitchell, but Immanuel David Isaiah. Whom others had perceived was a harmless “preacher” and drifter living on the streets, was apparently a kidnapper, rapist, and torturer with horrendous plans to harm young girls. Thankfully, Elizabeth was eventually found and brought back to her family after 9 months of being kept away in a makeshift home, only a few miles away from her family residence. And gratefully, the man who once called himself Immanuel is now serving his sentence behind bars.
