Who knew you could put up a national language on sale on eBay? That’s exactly what the German Language Association did as a protest because of the growing influence of the English language in modern Germany. They really didn’t intend to sell the language, but the initial auction was at € 10 million ($10,931,500).
30. Soccer team
Even a sporting team was put up for sale online. In 2009, Dornoch Capital Advisors auctioned the English soccer team Tranmere Rovers F.C. for a starting price of $10-million. But because it was made without the permission of the team’s owners, an official statement was issued informing the public that the team was, in fact, not for sale.
