Brooklyn was required by the hospital to remain in the children’s ward for an entire month. All her doctor’s, as well as her parents, wanted to make sure that she would not only have a full recovery but that she wouldn’t eventually come to reject her brand new liver. Thankfully, Brooklyn seems to be on her way to living a full and healthy life.

Despite the success of her transplant, Brooklyn will still be asked to go back and get checked practically every week. That will eventually become an every two-week visit, which will then lead to every month for the rest of her first year after the surgery. During her time in Chicago, she will be housed in the Ronald McDonald House which provides care and shelter for the children and families with severe medical needs.
