The Thunder’s officers remained quiet and surly once they boarded the Simon. One of them even yelled “Estupido,” the Spanish word for stupid, when the Sea Shepherd’s photographer took a picture. While the Thunder’s crew were quite obnoxious, Chakravarty remained professional. He contacted the officials soon after that and the port officials from an island coast of West Africa took the alleged criminals into custody where the Interpol was waiting. After years of illegal trawling, the ship’s captains were charged with several crimes such as illegal fishing, money laundering, and tax evasion.
