And he doesn’t try to shift that blame on anybody else. He doesn’t say, ‘This was not my fault – somebody did this to me and I shouldn’t be accountable for it.’ It’s always, ‘I did this.’ “

Although not everyone agreed that Rex was sorry for what he did. His own father, Allan said, “He’s not sorry. He’s sorry he got caught.” And even though he claims that he still loves his son, he thinks that Rex deserves to get the death penalty, which is what the prosecution ended up fighting for. Allan went on to say, “If he wasn’t my son, I’d say he deserves the death penalty. So why should I say, no, he doesn’t now?”
