When authorities began to investigate further, they were able to trace the last known cell phone call of the Runions to one Ronnie “Jay” Towns. Not only did Towns live in Telfair County, his parent’s home was very near the lake where the SUV and the bodies of the couple were found. Police were quick to find Towns and arrest him.

Towns ended up turning himself into the police, who eventually charged him with “giving false statements and criminal attempt to commit theft by deception.” It would seem that Towns answered the couple’s Craigslist Ad claiming that he had the car they were looking for, when in fact, he was just “luring the couple in for cash.”
