Still Managing To Go For A PhD

Unbelievably, in spite of Claire’s drug use, as well as taking care of her two children, she was able to not only get her undergraduate Marketing degree, but she also went for further studies. She was in the process of getting a PHD in Biomedical Science, something that supposedly can take anywhere between six to eight years to achieve.

Losing Her Children

Sadly for Claire, her drug use overran the rest of her life, and although one of her daughters was older already, around 14, with her younger daughter 10 years younger, the drugs just got the best of her. Eventually, her father shared, “She became irrational, quite often violent – she tried to stab me once. She tried to hit me with a hammer when I was telling her to behave. You couldn’t rationalize with her.” He said he had no choice but to call Social Services because he was afraid for his grandchildren. And that was the first time her kids would be taken away from her.
