Just like many others who were also embezzling huge amounts of cash, Walker also opened up the United Canvest Corporation in the Cayman Islands. This way, no one would be able to look into the actual funding of the company, and he wouldn’t have to pay taxes, or if he did, it wasn’t much compared to the amount of money in each account. The Caymans were basically considered a ‘taxpayers haven.’

Building His Business

“Within 10 years of leaving his job and putting up his own business, Walker was able to build his name in the industry. Not only was he able to open up 6 separate branches, but he could also boast of around 30 employees under his management as well. Things seemed to be going very well for Walker, with no one knowing exactly how he was ‘managing’ their funds. That was until 1986 when a stock deal Walker put a huge amount of money in, fell through.”
