Probably because Tim’s biological father was a doctor, Peggy had high hopes that her son would possibly follow in his footsteps, or at least go into a more prominent profession. So when Tim graduated in 1990 from the Liverpool Polytechnic University ‘with a degree in politics’ she wasn’t exactly ecstatic. Then things were going to get even worse. He allowed the IRA to keep guns in a car near his house, causing him to get arrested just a few hours after that on the very same day.

While he was in jail, his mom would make sure to visit him, no matter how disappointed she was that he had ended up there. He would end up spending 7 years ‘in the H-blocks as a republican prisoner.’ Tim would also notice that he was only one in a handful of black IRA prisoners.
