Sending Him To A Baby Home

Peggy was then able to get one of the nurses to bring her newborn son to St. Joseph’s Baby Home. In an almost too painful to witness situation, Peggy had even watched as the nurse took her son into a car, as she cried unbearably. Many just believed that she was mourning the loss of her dead child, and in a way, it was true. But no one knew that the baby she had sent to the adoption home, was not actually going to be given up for adoption.

9 Months In An Orphanage

For over 9 months, baby Tim was left in the orphanage while Peggy could only go and visit every weekend, as well as take him home for visits. No one found this strange since, even at the adolescent age of 13, Peggy would often go visit baby homes and take the children out to parks for a bit. But one thing she did notice was that, out of the hundreds of babies in the orphanage, no one wanted to take home any of the few black babies that were there.
