Happy To Be Free
The eyewitness ended up testifying during Hatchett’s trial, and despite it being practically impossible for him to have been able to assault and kill Carter in his condition, he was still found guilty. Then the witness who testified against him had his own charges dismissed for his testimony against Hatchett. Again, the Innocence Project came to his add and after 25 years serving time in prison for something he didn’t do, he was eventually found innocent, and was set free. Hatchett would go on to say, “I told y’all I didn’t do this, I’m so happy to be free again. I lost my son, my mom and my dad while in here. I’m home again. I stayed strong. I tell the truth, and it set me free. Now I don’t have to sleep alone anymore. I’m free!”
