For years, police would search for clues into who had killed Jodi, desperate to find answers. When retired State Trooper Jim Bedell heard about the case, he decided to come back just to help find her killer. After scouring through the evidence, Bedell would take particular interest in Ray precisely because he had told Jodi’s mom to search the cemetery, which was where she was found. He felt that the coincidence was just too great and that Ray knew more than he was letting on. A few more months into the investigation, Ray was bullied by investigators, eventually being put behind bars, not for Jodi’s murder, but for perjury in her case. But everyone would believe that he was really the killer. Ray would continue to proclaim his innocence even after being put in jail.
