Popov was still in shackles when the FBI would collect him and bring him to his daily “work place.” This tiny office place included a desk and computers that were seized in a piracy raid. He worked in a Cyrillic keyboard and began to penetrate the online world once again.

An unlikely partnership

Hilbert and Popov were unlikely allies in an operation that they called Ant City. The Ukrainian worked under a new identity and penetrated the underground world of cyber space. He operated under the pretense of a scammer who was out to buy stolen credit cards from other cyber thieves. Hilbert, on the other hand, worked with credit card companies to identify the source of their money loss.
