Getting Arrested

On June 27, Anna was arrested while under the pretense that she was meeting with a Russian Consulate employee. She was told that she needed to hand over a Russian passport to someone else, to which she had agreed. It was only after the meeting was done that Anna was followed and seen throwing away a burner phone she had gotten under a different name, knowing that she could throw it away if needed. And when she went to turn the fake passport over to the planted female agent, she was arrested by the FBI for espionage.

Getting A Knock On His Door

Alex would end up getting the surprise of his life when, 9 years after his marriage had first began, he got a knock on his London apartment by members of MI5, the British Security Service. They explained that Anna had been arrested in the U.S., and they had a lot of questions about his former wife, as well as wanting to know if she was ‘the daughter of KGB agent.’ Alex explained what he knew, but he also said that he didn’t know whether she was an actual spy or not.
