INTERVIEWING THE FINAL SUSPECT

On September 3, 1997, inspectors Gerald Hanahan and John Torento brought in Edward Grant. They found a latent print of his left thumb from the tissue box that was collected 25 years before. When he was questioned, he said that he indeed travelled to New Haven back then as a mechanic, but he couldn’t seem to recall meeting a woman named Penney Serra.

ANOTHER INTERVIEW

The investigators came in for a second meeting the very next day. The big question now on their minds was that, how did Grant’s blood and fingerprints reach the interior of the car when he claimed that he didn’t know Penney at all? This just didn’t add up. Were they having a secret affair? Was he just a stranger who took a liking to her? No one seemed to get the probable explanation. However, Grant had the perfect excuse.
