With the clues collected, Penney was taken to the Yale-New Haven hospital for autopsy. They were able to check the blood present in the scene of the crime. Penny had blood type A. Upon closer inspection, they found another blood type on her, type O, and the single stab wound that killed her. Because it pierced her heart, she died within a minute. There were also abrasions all over her body, but strangely enough, there was no sign of molestation. This was getting more and more unusual.
