One of the most common signs of infection is fever and is one of the ways our bodies fight against invaders such as those that cause food poisoning. By raising metabolism, the body increases its internal temperature in an attempt to kill whatever is causing it to become ill.

Food poisoning patients will most-likely experience fever that could last as long as the infection is present. It may sometimes be accompanied with chills and sweating which is a way for the body to regulate its temperature to prevent it from overheating. Getting enough rest and drinking adequate amounts of fluids are usually enough to alleviate the symptoms, if not, over-the-counter medicines are available to help you lower your temperature faster.
