Osteoporosis

The thinning of the bones occur when it loses calcium and other minerals that help keep them strong and compact. This condition, called osteoporosis, can lead to fractures, bone pain, and make you appear shorter in stature. Although everyone is naturally at risk for osteoporosis as they get older, women are found to be at greater risk of this condition after menopause. Due to the inflammatory nature of the disease, people with lupus are at an increased risk for osteoporosis, in addition to taking prednisone.
