Salma Hayek As Frida Kahlo – Frida (2002)
Frida was seven years in the making, with Salma Hayek not only playing the title role but also as one of the film’s producers. The role is far removed from the usual sexy image of Hayek who mostly starred in action movies prior to Frida. She pursued the movie with great passion by immersing herself deeply into the life and paintings of the Mexican artist. The movie, which would never have been made without Hayek, won the actress an Oscar nomination.
