If there’s one actor who was born to play Mohandas Gandhi, it’s Ben Kingsley. He did the part so well that when he met an elderly peasant while filming, the old man actually thought he was Gandhi. The short time it took for Kingsley to prepare for the role didn’t deter the British actor from his determination to portray it in the best possible way. He gave his all to the character he played, he said, that at the end of the film there’s no more trace of the Gandhi left in him. His determination did pay off because even to this day, it’s hard to look at Kingsley without seeing at the back of your mind the iconic role he once took on.
