Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles – Ray (2004)
Jamie Foxx played one of the most convincing portrayals of historic figures in the history of Hollywood. In the movie “Ray,” Foxx played soul legend, Ray Charles. Foxx was said to have wanted the role so bad, because he had been impersonating Charles his whole life. Before filming, Foxx and Charles met to compare their piano skills. Charles tested Foxx for hours, after which he stood up and hugged him and said, “He’s the one…he can do it.” The Academy award Foxx won for the role says a lot about how he gave justice to the role. Sadly, Ray Charles didn’t live long enough to see the film. He passed away in June 2004, a few months before the movie’s release.
