The graceful and proud Doberman Pinscher is a medium-large breed developed in Germany during the 1890s to serve as intimidating and fearless guard dogs for use as personal protection. They are highly intelligent animals, are easy to train, and are obedient, earning them a spot in the top 5 smartest dog breeds.
Many people have an impression of the breed as being aggressive and ferocious, an instinct that makes them one of the most fearsome dogs out there. Although this might be true of the earlier generations of the breed, modern Dobermans are actually relatively friendlier albeit naughty, thanks to their highly active personalities.
