A gun at his face

When he turned around to find Jack pointing a gun at his face, he instinctively shielded his face with his arm. As Jack pulled the trigger the second time, it fired successfully and hit Scott in his right elbow. But Scott knocked the gun aside and he quickly ran into the woods fearing for his life.

Deep into the woods

As he ran further into the woods, he could still hear gunshots. Luckily, none of those hit him. He ran farther until he could no longer hear any shots or anyone running after him. He worried that he had lost a lot of blood at that point, but he chose to remain hidden in the woods for several hours. When it got dark, he made his way back to the open and started walking on the road.
