Due to the nature and cost of the medications used for the treatment and its serious side effects, a lot of patients seek alternative methods which include special diets, supplements, fish oils, ointments and creams, chiropractic treatment, and even homeopathy. But even though these methods may not be harmful and may even help the patient cope or reduce some of the stress or symptoms associated living with such a chronic illness, there is simply no research that shows they positively affect the disease process or prevent organ damage. If the doctor feels these alternative or complementary approach has value, it may even be incorporated into the patient’s treatment plan. Given that, it’s important not to neglect the proven health care or treatment of serious symptoms.
