Narcissus was a hunter in Greek mythology who was gifted with extremely good looks, making him fall in love with himself. This over-infatuation with his outward appearance is the reason why the next personality disorder was named after him.

Narcissistic personality disorder is characterized by an exaggerated sense of self-importance, and people who have this disorder fantasize about their power, success and attractiveness, making them disregard the feelings and needs of others. To feed their fantasy of success, they tend to exaggerate their achievements and talents in order to receive constant praise and admiration. They are often arrogant, demanding unreasonable favors to be at the advantage but inwardly feel deeply envious of others.
